There seems to be an implicit assumption that wealth, glittering mansions and an impressive car are the benchmark of success.
For you, it may be writing from a shed at the bottom of your garden. Following your passion will enable you to feel whole, and it doesn't mean that you are sacrificing financial freedom.
When we do what we love, money flows and we are in an energetic exchange with the Universe from a place of love, joy and wholeness. That is abundant energy and will attract more abundance.
